The Garden District

I moved here 4 years ago from Shreveport. My territory with work consisted of Louisiana, East Texas and Arkansas. I love old neighborhoods and when I would travel with work, I was always on the lookout for the perfect little house in a great Garden District. I found it in Monroe on 3rd street. A bonus is that my house is only two blocks from a great public park and the lovely, underutilized Ouachita River." Dawn Eakin

The Garden District in Monroe, Louisiana, is celebrated for its tree-lined streets and overflowing flower beds. Most people find that Monroe’s version is decidedly more laid back—and affordable, than those you’ll find elsewhere.

Historic Bastrop Commercial Property

When it comes to extolling the great features of a property, who better to do so than the seller? We thought the seller of this historic building on the square in downtown Bastrop, Louisiana did a great job covering the long history of ownership and usage of the building. This was the first building in Bastrop to have a freight elevator, as well as being one of the first with air conditioning. The amazing walk-in cedar closet that was build to store fur coats when it was a department store is still in perfect condition. It’s definitely a unique property, and we’re glad we go to know some of it’s grander past.

This historic building in Bastrop LA offers 10,000 square feet of retail space. Concrete floors on first & second floors, wood floors cover the first floor. Parking in front & rear of building. Freight elevator, updated AC, original fixtures to be included in sale. This property is currently priced well below current appraisal. Property can be used for multiple purposes. Community Pride

The community of Oak Ridge in Northeast Louisiana is fortunate to have it’s own private litter control. Mr. R. E. Barham, affectionately known as Mr. Rie, is 92 years old. Every morning he gets on his bicycle, puts a plastic bag in the basket, and patrols the town for any bits of trash that have appeared since the previous morning. Patiently and meticulously he picks up and disposes of the litter, also taking time to collect fallen limbs and sticks. Ever vigilant in his personal war on litter, Mr. Rie is a fixture in Oak Ridge and a shining example of community pride.
