The Garden District

I moved here 4 years ago from Shreveport. My territory with work  consisted of Louisiana, East Texas and Arkansas.  I love  old neighborhoods and when I would travel with work, I was always on the lookout for the perfect little house in a great Garden District.  I found it in  Monroe on 3rd street. The Garden District in Monroe, Louisiana, is celebrated for its tree-lined streets and overflowing flower beds. Most people find that Monroe’s version is decidedly more laid back—and affordable, than those you’ll find elsewhere.

The area borders the Ouachita River on its northern and western sides, and Forsythe Park, which offers tennis and volleyball courts, a nine-hole golf course, and a public boat launch. There is also a 4 mile bike trail that runs through the woods along the river. Continue reading
