Mayday! Mayday! Mayday!

Mayday! Mayday! Mayday!

Mayday is an emergency procedure word used internationally as a distress signal. It is derived from the French venez m’aider, meaning “come help me”.

Mayday is a recognized distress signal!  When repeated three times by the one in distress – “Mayday, mayday, mayday”…the first responders come to the rescue!

May is a month that is packed with ‘busy-ness’ which can bring stress and distress! Another school year is winding down…kids from kindergarten to post graduates are taking that next big step in their lives – graduation! Kids will be out of school for the summer…there are vacations to plan… camp schedules to work around…swimming lessons…tennis lessons…baseball…softball…tournaments…busy, busy, busy…

OH! … and did I forget to mention that in the middle of all this ‘busy-ness’ you will be moving! You are changing jobs, you need to downsize, you need to upsize, circumstances have changed…you will be moving!

Yes, May is the busy month that moves us into three busy summer months!  It’s enough to make you signal “Mayday, mayday, mayday!” “Come help me!”

Don’t worry!  Help is on the way!  The full time professional realtors at John Rea Realty are  qualified  first responders –  ready, willing and able to answer your ‘distress’ call!

Moving is more than just selling your house or buying a new house.  Moving is taking the next step into your future.  Make a mental decision to ‘let go’ of your emotions and picture yourself at the closing table handing the keys to a happy buyer.  Look toward your future.  Help your new buyer imagine themselves in your home by de-personalizing your home.  You want the buyer to be able to envision themselves settling down in your home!

Get a head start on your future by packing up knickknacks, books and non-essential items.  Clean out your closets!  Buyers will ‘snoop’…neat goes a long way when a buyer is comparison shopping! If you have  light fixtures, window coverings etc that are not remaining with the house, take them down before showing your home.

Are there visible repairs that need to be made?  Hole in the wall?  Cracked tiles? Leaky faucets? Doors won’t close? Chartreus walls?  Orange bathroom?  Purple ceilings? Burned out light bulbs? Make repairs, paint neutral colors and replace light bulbs.

Make your home sparkle by washing the windows (inside and out!), pressure washing the exterior, caulking tubs, showers, sinks, cleaning out the refrigerator (Yes, the buyer is going to open the refrigerator!), vacuuming, dusting, replacing worn rugs and hanging up fresh towels.

Does the exterior invite you in?  Are the sidewalks swept?  Lawn mowed? Pine straw in the flower beds? Flowers?  Bushes trimmed? Peeling paint?

Our agents will help you ‘scrutinize’ your home.  We will give you advice on how to make your home ‘show’ ready inside and out!

Mayday, mayday, mayday is a signal that the realtors at John Rea Realty have been trained to answer.  Don’t be ‘stressed’ or ‘distressed’ about moving into your future.  Let the full time professionals at John Rea Realty help move you into your future!
